R.M.S. stands for Regia Monopolurilor Statului, institution founded in 1864. Regie is a French neologism (Régie) that is commonly translated as "autonomous administration", therefore R. M. S. can be read as Autonomous Administration of State Monopolies. In 1929 R.M.S. became Autonomous House of State Monopolies. This salt mine lies in the Slănic city in the Prahova county.
