About Sinaia Casino

The Sinaia Casino was built in 1912, along the Palace Hotel. In 1948 the Casino was nationalized, in 1955 becoming the Sinaia Sindicate's Culture House, and passing in 1978 to the State Protocol (up until 1989 the Sinaia Park was torn apart by a fence, the access to the former Casino being cut off). In 1990 it became once more Casino, until 1995 when once again turned to the State Protocol Administration.

Some of tokens present on this page are described (J142 for example) in MBR (Monede și bancnote românești), where it is said that they are made of nickel. The error could have easily been avoided, since nickel is magnetic and these tokens are not attracted by the magnet.

Special thanks to Mr. Mircea Jar and to Mr. Balazs Aldor, who sent us pictures of Sinaia tokens.
