Emil Costinescu (1844 - 1921) was an economist and a liberal politician, several times deputy and minister of finances. Likely the token was used at Costinescu's factories located at Sinaia and in the surroundings: a nail factory (which, according to internet information, was as well producing wire, nuts and rivets), a hydraulic lime factory and a lumber factory. The current MEFIN (acronym for Mecanică Fină) factory at Sinaia is a descendent of the nail factory established in 1891.

Great thanks to Mr. Sorin Claudiu Tranulea, through whose kindness the images of the 2 lei token appear on the website.
