According to the information from the book Monetele Romāniei (Iliescu and Radovici, 2004 - from which the mintages were taken), the 1 leu 1938 and 1 leu 1939 coins were actually issued in 1940. All "corncob" coins were struck in Bucharest. According to MBR, a total mintage of 100.100.000 pieces of 1 leu were struck (value that corresponds with the sum of the four years' mintage figures taken from Monetele Romāniei), from which 27.900.000 coins were struck in 1938.
The pictures of 1 leu coins above are present on Romanian coins through the kind permission of an anonymous donor.
