About Constanța Casino
A first casino was built at Constanța in 1880, nearby Farul Genovez (the Genoese Lighthouse). It was demolished in 1892. Another casino functioned between 1893 and 1910, also on the esplanade. The nowadays casino of Constanța was inaugurated in 1910, having immediately become one of the most prominent buildings of the city. It was built on the esplanade of Constanța, with the plans of a French architect. From 1911 the casino obtained the gaming license from the Council of Constanța commune. During WW1, when Dobrogea was occupied by the Central Powers, the building of the casino was used by a military hospital. Nowadays (2011) the casino needs renovation, as it was abandoned for any activity.
