About Romanian Painter Nicolae Tonitza

Nicolae Tonitza was born at Bîrlad, to the family of Neculai Toniţă. He studied in Bîrlad, then at Iaşi, later abroad. In his late years he was professor at Belle-Arte Academy in Iaşi, and rector of that institution.
